In an observation that the large illiterate population of South Africa has been silenced in public media, based on the presumption of their inability to communicate; Hannah Shone and I produced a book series that returns the voices to those deemed illiterate.

We approached Shine Literacy—that runs volunteer centres in existing government schools—for permission to gather stories from their pupils.  

The target market, for the published books, are parents who have kids that are in a place of privilege, that have access to basic education.  The entire agenda around the book series is not revolved around profit but rather to re-engage a collaborative network of creators with under-represented members of the public. 

We created 3 books to introduce the series. The content was gathered from the children and illustrated by Hannah Shone and Myself.  Each book comes with a sticker pack.
