Client-Driven Android Application

Problem:

The client, SU Press, would like an application inspired by one of their books.

Method:

Working with software developers and another designer, we were able to create Flora Find, an application that allows users to search for, learn about, and ‘collect’ flowers through the use of GPS technology and social networking. This provides SU Press with an application that brings enhanced usability to an existing book of wildflowers.

The application allows for the search of flowers on trails nearby; as well as sorts flowers by color, environment, and blooming season. When the user tracks down a flower they’re seeking in the wild, they are able to then photograph and mark this flower as ‘collected.’ This feature also allows users to share their collections with one another.

Possible users were determined to include parents, bloggers, and naturalists.

My Contributions:

Created refined wire frames and navigation guides for the developers  and designers to use during creation. Created many of the graphics used in the final application, as well as created the InVision prototype that was used in user testing.

Collaborated with another designer to create the user personas, preliminary ideation, overall style guide, final video, and final process book.

Handed final package off to developers to implement into their code.

Brief Description of the project, embedded video + embedded InVision prototype.

Note: Only some buttons are functional in the following prototype.
