"Alo is a pendent lamp. A high-power LED illuminant. There were a preponderance of visually heavy, closed boxes of different forms with a very technical aesthetic. We decided to go in the opposite direction and produce a product that was light and airy with a ‘human’ appeal and with the luminescence describing the form. We searched for references in artists, music, nature, geometry and architecture. The keywords that would inform the perfect design language were ‘sensual’, ‘harmonic’, ‘airy’, ‘friendly’, and ‘iconic’. Despite a varied considerations-opportunities and constraints, it was amazing to see a beautiful piece develop out of a pencil sketch, in its purest form, without any discrete changes, through a carefully structured design process."
