According to some statistics, young people will spend approximately 1 hour per week taking and arranging photos of themselves. I believe that the stats are wrong, and that the time frame spent building ones' virtual image is, unfortunately, wider.

It is not a secret that the Selfies are sign of attention-seeking, but from my point of view the attention and acceptance are not required from the society, but from ones' self. It is a form of self-seduction, where the person is trying to acquire more love and appreciation for him/herself, through a process of taking a self-portrait. ("I need to like myself.")
Sadly - that is the wrongest possible way of achieving desired, and leads directly to the opposite of feeling loved and self-confident.

However, if practiced regularly, it is proven that meditation helps solving a lot of inner issues (google it), and also reduces need for taking a photo of oneself. 🙂 So - every time you want to make yourself feel better, don't reach for the camera. Sit, relax, pay attention to the breathing, be self-less like Buddha... or just go for a walk, run, read a book, solve a puzzle, play a game or with your dog.. because the chances are that the latter activities will actually do you good.
