DROVERS BLACK ALE
This is my junior project in university. I used Xara Designer Pro 7 to do the graphic, Maya 2012 to model and render images.My inspriration for the kangaroo figures was the movie "Australia" (2008), in which there is three main characters: The aboriginal, the drover and the aristocrat.
The "Aboriginal kangaroo"
The Aboriginals are the original inhabitants of Australia from 40,000 to 50,000 years ago with many different comunities and societies, each with its own unique mixture of cutures, customs and languages. They mainly lived as hunters-gatherers. They hunted and foraged for food from the land. Aboriginal society was relatively mobile, or semi-nomadic, moving due to the changing food availability found across different areas as season chanced. The greatest population density was to be found in the southern and eastern regions of the continent, the River Murray valley in paticular.
The "Drover kangaroo"
A drover is an experienced stockman, who moves livestock, usually sheep or cattle, "on the hoof" over long distances. He had to be independent and tough, an exellent horseman, able to manage stock as well as men.

The "Aristocrat kangaroo"
Bristish colonisation of Australia began with the arrival of the First Fleet in Botany Bay in 1788. Since then the people of european descent have formed the majority of the population in Australoa, comprised about 60% percent of the Autralia population. A consequence of British settlement was appropriation of land and water resources, which continued throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries as rural lands were converted for sheep and cattle grazing.
