Angela Lo's profile

Then, Here and Now

The Hmong community is limited and foreign. The Hmong people were requested to help with the Vietnam War by fighting with the United States military. My parents and their family came to the United States as refugees to escape from the war. My parents lived in straw houses with dirt floors in Laos; they came to the United States not knowing English and now they are living life as every-day Americans.

This sculpture piece reflects on my family's history and culture. The bamboo represents their lives back in Laos and the 2"x4"s represents their lives now in the United States.
