Head & Shoulders Vintage Letterpress | Packaging Design

This project that began in mid-December was based around designing a travel boxset for Head & Shoulders shampoo that, in terms of it's visual style, would adapt a retro-1980s letterpress look that would appear more dirtier and older than the current visual style that is already in use.

The biggest note of this project was to ensure that the letterpress look seemed as genuine as possible by not allowing any text to be level with each other, but to also ensure that there was a sufficient level of abstract within the text by placing capitals and smaller-cased text in places it would not be traditionally used.

Once I had experimented with the chosen varieties of shampoo (including Citrus Fresh, Repair & Care, Smooth & Silky, and Thick & Strong) I wanted to take the old-and-aged look a little further by including a mockup that would place the boxes in a dusty attic or cupboard to give the feeling that the boxes themselves are a product of a time gone by.
