Back then, stories about mythical creatures were derived from mythology, passed down from generation to generation and became part of culture. Nowadays, these mythical creatures are perceived more as a joke and are mostly forgotten.  

The title Belis was taken from ancient Javanese language, meaning ghost or mythical creature. Why Java? because Java Island has the biggest ethnic subdivision out of many Islands in Indonesia, so it resulted the cultural development and also told to have the largest amount of mythical creatures.

Aru-Aru - This chapter explains about mythical creatures of wood element, which usually can be found in the forest or tree.
Banyu - This chapter explains about mythical creatures of water element, which usually can be spotted in rivers, streams, or seas.
Suluh - This chapter explains about mythical creatures of fire element, which have power derives from fire or heat.
Golek - This chapter explains about mythical creatures of earth element, who dwell under the grave or have power from the earth.
