The Tipping Point- Teaching aid game

Researchers at ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and The Environment) are studying the impacts of pressures and adaptive ability of socio-ecological systems in the Moyar Bhavani region in Tamil Nadu in order to understand the implications of these changes on communities living in the area. The Moyar Bhavani is characterized by a diverse ecological and human landscape that consists of two distinct areas: the predominantly agrarian Bhavani region and the forested Moyar landscape.

'The Tipping Point' game was designed & developed as a teaching aid that depicts the fragile nature of the co-existing systems at play in this area. The aim is to maintain balance of the board by shifting around blocks under increasing pressures. Different blocks represent the varying pressures on each of these socio-ecological areas.
