In Arctic Northern Norway, at 69°N,  the sun is under the horizon between the 29th of November and 28th of January. Although this period its called The time of Darkness, it is actually most defined by light as the sky is painted in the most magnificent hues. This sheer dusk lasts for about three hours around midday, and during this time the light is constantly changing. In one direction it is yellow, in another it takes on a soft pink hue, then purple, and if you turn around it shifts to cold blues. It really is the most amazing display of light, orchestrated by the sun shining from under the horizon.
