'Lean on-Lean off’, is a furniture developed during my exchange programme to Sweden. The intent was to design and prototype an element for smokers in public spaces. The goal of the design was to create a modular unit that conceptually reflected the confluence of behaviour of people in public spaces and ideas that a public furniture encapsulates. Since it has been designed as highly modular and indefinitely expandable system, it fits in all spatial situations.
A deep understanding and a lot of research was required to get maximum stability out of delicate veneer sheets and achieve the required shape.
It provides a perfect solution for those who don’t want or need to sit down but need a place to temporarily rest. It is a very simple but nevertheless a well-thought-out piece of furniture. It also provides an alternative to standing in locations where benches are not feasible.
