Over the course of my engineering career, this DSL modem enclosure still rank as one of my top favorite projects I have ever designed. The artistic concept was developed by HLB Chicago, I was told the original design inspiration came from the Sydney Opera House since we were all watching the Sydney Olympic at that time back in year 2000. The basic construction of the enclosure consists of a left and right halves (made from transparent polycarbonate), a front lens cover (also made from transparent polycarbonate) and a pair of outer skin (made from black ABS) to give it a two tone color look. The fins of the enclosures are meant to infuse a sense of speed to the product.
