The topic of my dissertation was based on the current status of print nowadays, basically newspapers, books and magazines and what is the possible future for them. Will print survive, and if so, at what cost? Why has the digital media made it so different for the basic book and magazine to survive?
Through research, i have come to the conclusion that print is not necessarily in danger of dying, but it is on the decline due to the lack of good content and design that go with it. If design for print had to improve, then perhaps print would become as popular as it was years ago. The only thing keeping it alive is its tangibility and sense of ownership that seems to attract many buyers.
My product is a simple example of what design for print should entail. The whole point is to get the reader excited about print not only through the content, but by showing the full potential of print.
