Every year Brand Union invites teams of bright-eyed and bushy-tailed young design, copywriting, multimedia and brand strategy students from Vega School to participate in the Creative Union Awards for the chance to win an internship at Brand Union. The winners also win a custom-designed Munny trophy ("B.O.B"). Creative Union Awards is about the union of strategic and creative thinkers, and each year this is reflected in the trophy, with that unity represented by a shared Brand Union Brain.
2016's trophy was designed and illustrated by myself, and airbrushed by Tyrone de Bruin (Tyrone Inkslinger).
INITIAL DESIGN
I created my initial design in Photoshop, using a Wacom Tablet and drawing directly onto a 3D image which allowed me to plan for the airbrushing stage. Half cyborg, half organic structure, both aspects of B.O.B come together to create a lean mean creative being (note the jar of ideas clasped between B.O.B's confident claw-tentacles -he made them himself!).
THE MUNNY

THE BASE
Because ideas were represented as sweets in the above design, when the time came to think about the trophy base, we decided on a clear perspex base that could open up and be filled with sweets. This functional trophy base would also incorporate the design and the Creative Union Awards logo (printed on white vinyl.)
