​​​​​​​Bearded Bear was founded in 2014 when the craze for beard oil began to truly take-off in South Africa. Unbenounced to us the rest of the globe was already thinking of new and imaginative ways to enter the beard oil market as every brand trys to be there own kind of different. 
We started off a little different. We hit the ground running with a large roll out of products as we wanted to hit every corner of the market and truly make our mark. Sadly to say, the recession hit South Africa rather hard and so too our business, we had to make drastic cut backs to offer our quality at an all new ‘recession affordable rate’. The business is slowly gaining traction again of which none of this could have been done without our amazing customers, you.

Whether it comes up in a conversation at a braai or a skinner at the local barbershop, locals in South Africa always ask, “why a bear?“, “Why have you used a bear instead of the more popular African lion or other native animal species?”, well for us a brand is more than a choice its a feeling. Jonathan came and made us all aware of what could be done with a brand like ours and we’re so grateful for it.

All brands need to find that fuzzy place that make them stand for something and ooze purpose. For Bearded Bear Beard Oil™ we chose the bear because it was an extremely popular animal in North Africa many years ago and we wanted to bring back awareness for this huge carnivore that so many had already forgotten about in Africa.
