Elephant Space - Safe Space for Youth | Branding

ABOUT
Elephant Space is a non-profit organization that provides a safe environment for youth to relax and play board games, while gaining tools to feel empowered and create their own happiness. Milan Seki is the founder of Elephant Space and her passion for board games and helping youth in her local community inspired her to start the non-profit organization. The name was influenced by the metaphor of an elephant in the room—the problems adults overlook about youth, and the elephant shaped playground where Milan used to hide in when she herself had hard times as a child. One of the goals of Elephant space is to provide this kind of space that is free of judgements where every youth can go.

The objective for this project is to create logo and visual branding system to reach out youth ages between 12 to 14 years old in downtown Toronto. Gender neutral colour palettes were strategically chosen to appeal both girls and boys, as well as psychological effects.
The shape of elephant is iconic and impactful, at the same time easy to draw for youth to take it forward. Since the launch of Elephant Space on October 20th in 2016, kids have decorated elephants and customised them in their own style which was also intended in the design process.
