Dar a Volta ao Sol

Editorial
Dar a Volta ao Sol (Going Around the Sun) was a monthly exhibition cycle which took place in Museum of Science’s coffee shop, in Coimbra, Portugal. This cycle comes with the objective of compiling interpretative texts about contemporary Portuguese photography and held from January 2015 to January 2016. In each month, it was presented one photography and one essay. The photography and the essay although were displayed separately were connected to each other in its content. At the time the artists were invited to a monthly conversation with the general public.

The cycle communicated the artists only monthly, without ever knowing, in advance, the following artists. The catalogue edited later, it's the only way to look at the project in its overall shape.

To build the event branding we had as reference the solar orbits and the explanatory illustrations of the heliocentric theory, published on De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium, in XVI century by Nicolaus Copernicus. Presenting a dynamic, flexible identity the adapts to not only to different dimensions, forms, and size but also at temporality and duration of the event.

Identity developed under the orientation of Artur Rebelo (R2 Design).
