The rationale behind this was to design a lamp that could create two types of light in order to satisfy the user needs and so the Crutch lamp born. 

Crutch is a lamp with both an environmental and focal light. The mechanism used to choose the type of light required is inspired by the crutches system and it consists of two tubes, one inside another, which allows height adjustment. 

The effect I wanted to achieve here was a sensatory result made by playing with opaque and translucent materials that allow different kind of lights to be created.
