HD-skin for Caustic 3
Hello!
First of all, I'm a big fan of Caustic 3, a music creation tool. It's incredibly powerful and it's nice, easy, and really joyful to use.
But one thing really bothered me: by default it comes with low-res graphics which looks poorly on modern devices with huge DPI. So I decided to spend some of my free time and make a new, beautiful and crispy, pixel-perfect HD skin!
Everything was made from scratch. I used the default skin for general style reference (despite it's blurriness, I like it very much).
I used Photoshop as my main tool, plus Illustrator to make vector icons.
The result: 65+ PSD pixel-perfect files (machines, effects and components for modular synth) and 70+ unique pixel-perfect vector icons.
And the main one: it can be upscaled freely since everything is made of vector shapes, vector icons and layer styles.
Hope you enjoy it!
Default skin just uses a downscaled screenshots of machines, but I decided that it would be better to make a set of unique icons to represent each component of an app :).
Controls.tga holds inside all icons, knobs and other dynamic control elements of an app.
And it was the trickiest thing to design :).
Not only becaust it holds a huge amount of icons, control overlays and tiny miscellaneous stuff, but also because of lack of documentation (basically I had to discover what element belongs to what myself) and it's format which is a RGB image + separate alpha channel (which was very confusing at first).
