"Revealing the Fabric Within"
Reconsider the human body. Allow science to meet the creative. The body’s diverse structures and components are commonly presented to us in a stale, diagrammed format. Yet we are home to a fabric unlike any other—our closely-knit tissues do more than cover, protect, and support our vital elements. These tissues are intricate in form and are sources of unexpected beauty. I wish to translate the grandeur of our inner anatomy to the outward application of knit apparel. Instead of merely acknowledging the body as a clinical, unfamiliar territory, we should embrace and explore its artistic successes as well. My focus for this collection is the four tissue groups in the human body: epithelial, connective, muscle, and nerve. These groups possess extraordinary characteristics that I hope to capture with clothing.

Beauty shots by Charlie Harless; Studio and Runway shots by Jorge Gonzalez
The dress is inspired by patterns found in simple squamous epithelial tissue. Knit and pieced together by hand.  Jewelry is hand crocheted and knit.
Epithelial tissue inspired caftan, embellished tank, and shorts.  Machine knit, hand knit, crochet, and sequin work.
Nervous tissue dress knit on a Brother KH 260 domestic knitting machine.
Top and skirt inspired by connective tissue.  Jewelry, top, and skirt all knit by hand.
Dress inspired by the striations and textures of muscle tissue. Crochet, hand knit, and domestic machine knit.
