Beastie Boys-To The 5 Boroughs LP

The task was to make a cd cover for any band you want, my choice were "Beastie Boys" and their album "To The 5 Boroughs" because i like that album and Beastie Boys are one of my favorite bands.
There were no limits on this project except one, and that was: ONLY ONE COLOR CAN BE USED FOR PRINT
Since the album is about NYC the first thing crossed my mind was try to draw out the typography based on streets and building blocks on a map of New York city. Fortunately that didn't work so i tried to simulate the city layout by creating the blocks from the name of the songs. Each song has it's own module in which the song names are generated. The format is 48x60 cm, it holds 4 horizontal modules and 5 vertical modules. Each module is 12x12cm. The idea was that it's primary function is packaging for a cd and after you open it you can hang it in your room, studio or office as a poster.
