Interwoven Paths 2.0
a collection of Jamdani woven stoles from
the looms of Bengal
Jamdani is a localised extra weft technique. It is a traditional weaving technique presumably originated in Bengal. It is a tedious process of weaving which adds to higher cost of the products. The more intricate the pattern higher the cost of weaving.
Designed for Aranya Natural, Munnar.
To work with jamdani as a technique was lending to be expensive and more that the targeted cost for the stoles. Thus to bring variety to the stoles it was decided to explore Jamdani in four stoles with different intricacy to understand the feasibility of the product for production.
The inspiration of the elements was from basic geometric shapes such as rectangle, squares and triangles. The forms were explored that would be cost effective with experimenting with the extra wefts per ground picks.
