Appearance and aesthetics

“Olympia” - a documentary Film which was filmed and directed by Lenny Rifnstahl, documents the Berlin Olympics in 1936. Rifnstahl, film director and a German photographer, known for cold, clear aesthetic in her films using the sports world sterile. Didactic project and researcher in various scenes in the movie presents an analysis of movement, composition, camera angles and various ingredients used by Rifnstahl. The primary research tool is an abstraction of the scene, and the goal is to examine how to summarize the scene, but not lower its strength.
The study aims to discover and understand the components and visual film making, which were made by Rifnstahl and influence us today. In penetrating look deeper, we realize that the film qualities comes from the ideology of cold and cruel culture, and the fact that a work so perfect, clean and impressive reached from these places, make the piece more powerful to the viewer.

אולימפיה - סרט תיעודי אשר צולם ובויים ע”י לני ריפנשטאהל ומתעד את האולימפיאדה בברלין בשנת 1936
. ריפנשטאהל, במאית קולנוע וצלמת גרמנייה, ידועה באסתטיקה קרה וברורה בסרטיה, ובפרט בסרט זה בו היא משתמשת בקומפוזיציות מדויקות, תוך כדי שימוש בעולם הספורט המוקפד והסטרילי. הספר חוקר בצורה דידקטית וקרה סצינות שונות בסרט העוסקות בענפי ספורט שונים ומציג ניתוח של תנועה, קומפוזיציה, זוויות צילום ומרכיבים שונים בהם ריפנשטאהל משתמשת מבחינה עיצובית ורעיונית. כלי העבודה העיקרי במחקר הוא הפשטה של הסצינות, והמטרה היא לבדוק כיצד ניתן לתמצת את הסצינה, אך לא להוריד מחוזקה. המחקר שואף לגלות ולהבין מרכיבים והחלטות ויזואליות בסרט, אשר נעשו ע”י ריפנשטאהל ומשפיעים עלינו עד היום. במבט חודר ומעמיק יותר, נבין כי האיכויות בסרט מגיעות ממקום של אידיאולוגייה ותרבות קרה ואכזרית, והעובדה כי יצירה כה מושלמת, נקייה ומרשימה הגיעה ממקומות אלו, הופכת את היצירה בעיניי הצופה, לחזקה עוד יותר.
