PSA Poster Design Project

I was challenged in my Art 235 class to design a Public Service Announcement campaign with the focus on clever and witty ideas instead of shocking and extreme images. The concept for my campaign was based on the children’s game of hangman with demeaning and insulting words to show the dangers of name calling. On my Idiot poster, I purposely made the mistake of not putting both “i’s” in the correct blank spaces. This was done to make the point that we all make mistakes but there is still no excuse to name call. It may go unnoticed but my hope is if and when people notice and think “What an idiot to make such a mistake,” their next thought is “Oh, maybe my initial response to name call is the point being made.”

Children's game of hangman using "loser" as the word to guess.
This poster is more tongue in cheek as a true hangman player would notice the “idiot" mistake of not putting both “i’s” in the correct blank spaces. This was purposely done to make the point that we all make mistakes but there is still no excuse to name call. It may go unnoticed but my hope is if and when people notice and think “What an idiot to make such a mistake,” their next thought is “Oh, maybe my initial response to name call is the point being made.”
