In 2016, Google re-launched their online platform in Indonesia, the Google Arts and Culture. It allows users to view artworks at museums and even simulate their physical presence at historical sites through VR (Virtual Reality).

The launching event was held in the National Museum and attended by numerous people ranging from government officials, historians, travelers, and cultural observers. Elementary school students were also invited to experience the Google Arts and Culture firsthand.

To commemorate this event, VR Cardboards were distributed to attendees. Inspired by traditional Javanese masks, these cardboards borrow the masks' intricate patterns and vibrant colors while still retaining Google's color palette.
