Circular
Design three supplements for The Typographic Circle’s magazine Circular. The supplements must feature three famous designers and typographers that have given talks for the circle. Search the Circle’s website to decide who you want to feature.
Pre-flight
After looking on the Typographic Circle website, I picked out a number of designers who I would send a letter. The letter would ask them 4 questions:
1.) Please draw a circle however you prefer and send it back
2.) What’s your favourite typeface
3.) What’s your favourite colour
4.) What’s your favourite medium to use
From their responses, I complied the information and their circles. The most profound consequence of the exercise was that it was interesting to see how different each of their responses were. Proving that every designer, typographer or any individual would always produce a circle that is unique.
The other answers to their questions determined how I would approach the design aspect of each publication.

Anthony Burrill sent in a fantastic circle which comprised of multiple circles precisely arranged with a ruler and compass.
Process
From research on his work and the use of his writing in his reply letter, I developed a supplement that best suited his style and emotion.
As his work is produced within a printing studio, I took photography of his quotes projected onto silk screens, letter press machines and form blocks.
Richard Morrison
Richard Morrison sent in a sentimental circle which was made from scanning in one if his favourite records.
Process
From research on his work and the use of his writing in his reply letter, I developed a supplement that best suited his style and emotion.
As his work is produced within a production studio, I took photography of his quotes projected onto a cinema scree, within a theatre and used the typography and spacial aspect to best communicate his personality.
Manny Ling
Manny Ling sent in a hand-drawn circle which he rendered by painting a circle in dark ink or acrylic.
Process
From research on his work and the use of his writing in his reply letter, I developed a supplement that best suited his style and emotion.
As his work is produced within a art studio, I took photography of his quotes projected onto walls within the same space by cutting and sticking his quotes using his preferred typeface, parallax effects made the outcome more interesting and gave depth to the concept.
