Stamps

The RSAbrief asked me to design a set of stamps based around the ideology of ‘Worldwith a Future’. The brief asked the stamps themselves to help people makechanges to the environment. When reading the brief I initially thought that thestamps needed to be a strong, bold, straightforward set. Thus catching theaudience’s eyes, positively making them change the way they live to help theworld.
My idea is very simple; it is a purelytypographic set of stamps, which uses bright bold colours and strong typefacesas a means to catch people’s attention. Upon each stamp I wrote out one way inthat you can help save the environment.

· Recycle everything you can
· Switch off all appliances whenthey are not being used
· Take showers not baths
· Turn down the heating and wear awooly jumper
· Walk or ride a bike instead ofdriving
· Buy and use recycled paper

By using these short sentencesthe ways of helping will stay in people’s minds, when perhaps putting rubbishin the bin or taking a bath and instead they will recycle or shower. The set of stamps also have an added extra, they have a texture placed upon them. The texture is of a beige recycled paperto keep with the theme of saving the world. I feel my stamps will help peopleto save the environment and continue doing this with help of my short sentencesthat will stay in their minds and with the bright colours that will attractthem to keep buying the stamps and thus remembering the sentences.
