Shoe Installation - Malaysian Soles (Souls)

Like soles of the shoe, the very soul of Malaysia comes from the people residing on her soil. Like the hexagonal hives utilised by bees, each column of the society has a part in the development of the nation’s culture. Compact and interlinked, the different cultures from each of these social columns fused together over the years and formed what is coined the “Malaysian identity” we have today. Our installation is a manifestation of this collective journey towards developing our Malaysian identity. Featuring prominent symbols and patterns from the different races in Malaysia, the design within the hexagonal boxes details the colourful intertwinement of different cultures in our country.
