This is a commissioned portrait I created for a client to be used as album art. I began by making several abstract paintings on canvas using acrylic paints. I then scanned these paintings into the computer and using photoshop I arranged them into a basic silhouette of the face. From there I dodged and burned in the shadows and highlights allowing the face to emerge from the abstract. Up until this point I had been working with the portrait in gray scale, the last step is to add color by digitally painting and tinting over the portrait.

The theme for this portrait was "imaginary friends" which is why you will find several imaginary friends floating around in her head.
