Fast Fashion: A Disposable Choice

FAST FASHION: A DISPOSABLE CHOICE
OBJECTIVE: Fast Fashion has become an alarming concern that is leaving a permanent damage on our environment. The increasing overconsumption has resulted in unethical practices making it an energy demanding, time consuming and pollution spewing industry. The main objective for this poster is to raise awareness about the how fast fashion clothes are made to not last and how discarding these clothes after short span of use is causing a tremendous damage to our environment.

CONCEPT: The concept consist of two parts: a clothing landfill and a clothing rack. The size of landfill helps illustrate the scale of the problem. The clothing rack with empty hangers represents a consumer's closet reflecting on their discarding habits, only to shop more, that is directly related to this cause. The mindless impulse purchases and low prices are a distraction that has led them to become an unwitting accomplices of the crimes committed by these giant fashion industries. The empty clothing rack shows the viewer/consumer where their clothes may end up if they decide to discard them.

TAGLINE: Fast Fashion: A Disposable Choice. Here the word “disposable” educates the viewer about how the fast fashion industry creates clothing that are made not to last (low quality) and end up in the landfill after their short lifespan. The word “choice” gives audience the power to help bring a positive change to the environment. The choice whether to purchase fast fashion belongs to the consumer and if they shop wisely and sustainable (eco-friendly) high-quality long lasting products, then such landfills could easily be reduced.
