Sie ist klein, eiweißhaltig und zirpt. Bei der Produktion von Insekten braucht man, im Vergleich zur Fleischproduktion, nur einen winzigen Bruchteil an Platz, CO2, Wasser und Futter – und erhält die gleiche Menge an Proteinen.

Die Marke ZIRP will das ändern. Sie ist jung und frech, bunt aber klar strukturiert. Und vor allem abstrakt: Nur in den Mustern schwebt das Insektenhafte noch leicht mit und erzählt kleine Geschichten. Auch in den Produkten von ZIRP sind keine Insekten sichtbar: Sie enthalten 20% Insektenmehl und sehen aus wie alltägliche Lebensmittel.

How does the future´s food look like?
It‘s tiny, full of proteins and it sounds like: „zirp“. Producing insects needs – compared to the production of meat – only a small amount of space, CO2, water and forage. But it contains the same amount of proteins. However, in the western world exists a big disgust concerning the little crawlers.
The brand ZIRP wants to change that. It‘s young, cheeky and colourful, but clearly structured. And abstract: You can just slightly find the inscetlike in the symbolic and storytelling pattern. The products neither show whole insects: They consist to 20% of insect flour and look like daily food.
Das Projekt ZIRP entstand an der Fakultät für Gestaltung in Würzburg. An der halbjährlichen Ausstellung (Bergwerk, Sommersemester 2016) konnte man am Foodtruck von ZIRP selbstgebackene Kekse mit 20% Mehlwurmmehl kosten.

The project ZIRP was created at the facutly of design in Würzburg. Every half year, there's an exhibition called Bergwerk, and in summer semester 2016 you could try selfmade cookies with 20% of insect flour at the foodtruck of ZIRP.
