Those with limited buying power cannot access healthy food, have limited alternative information, use a smartphone to access the internet instead of a desktop
Project:Food turns Receipts into Data with a phone camera, Turn Data into better Choices, and provide tools to make Choices into Change.
With the app interface design complete, we will now pursue the mobile app programming.
The funds for this project will go directly into the engineering of optical character recognition (OCR) mobile software and database integration.
Our computer science team member will work with a graduate student connection, and some of the funds will be used to compensate our ally for any time spent working on the project.
The goal of this funding is to build a working prototype for New Orleans that could be scaled and improved with further investment from within our school and community.
