Brook
Brook is a contemporary coffee table cum book shelf inspired by the golden spiral and the need to organize scattered books in the waiting area of a small office. Its top is made up of ash veneered plywood for its accessibility, light weight and lack of movement, and its structure is made up of MS Flat and MS Square pipe. Also it is a cantilever structure, which makes the table more interesting and the MS Flat on the top adds to the beauty and continuity of the form.
The project was to pick up any place in the city and then redesign the place according to the needs of the owner. Thereafter designing one furniture piece for a part of the place. The assignment helped in learning how to deal with the clients and understanding their wants and needs and then designing accordingly for them.
Initially ideation was done on the paper and Auto CAD, inspiration being taken from the golden spiral. After the concept was finalized, 3D renders were generated for proper visualization.
For production first the different pieces of plywood were cut and then veneer was pasted on them separately. After that the entire structure was made out of MS pipe and flat and then the plywood pieces were screwed to the main structure to get Brook.
