Ilford HP5 plus 400 Lightroom Preset
The Ilford HP5 film preset emulate the tones and grain of the monochrome HP5 Plus 400 Ilford film. It is a medium grain, medium contrast B&W film that works well for a wide range of photography. It has a classic look well suited to documentary work, portraits and photojournalism
You can use this preset out-of-the-box or you can easily customise it to fit your own needs. This particular and very accurate digital emulation is hand crafted from film scans to provide wonderful results. Also, you don't need to set any camera profile because I created a final product that will easily work with any camera. I am happy to say that you will be able to use your favourite preset even if you are going to change your photo equipment
Just follow theese easy steps:
. Launch Lightroom
. Navigate to the develop module and open the presets panel
. Right click anywhere in the grey background area to reveal a pop-up menu, then click on "new folder"
. Give the new folder an appropriate name and then click "create"
. Right click on the new folder you just created and choose "import"
. Double click on the folder "Ilford HP5 Plus 400 Lightroom Preset" from your desktop, select the "lrtemplate" files and click "import"
. Enjoy your new lford HP5 film preset
While there is no right way to use a film emulation preset, there are a few ways that make sense and save time when it comes to develop your image
Here is the way I suggest: adjust white balance and exposure first, then apply my Ilford HP5 Lightroom preset. Then feel free to play around with contrast and highlights if you want. This method is the best and the fastest one
