COLOUR CHANGING WALLPAPER
Due to the increasing range of options in interior design and wallpaper manufacture, we have decided to explore the yet undiscovered field of colour changing printing inks used for interior decoration purposes. We have developed a set of decorative wallpapers for a child’s room. The wallpaper features the protagonists of Slovenian children's books, so that a child would be familiar with the images. To ensure quick and easy recognition of these characters, we have made a detailed analysis of their descriptions in these books. We recognized their main characteristics and the space they inhabit. Based on these findings the characters were then positioned within the wallpaper pattern. In relation to each other, their positions are equally prominent. The level of exposure of the character then determines the photochromic effect.
We have then tested the wallpaper by placing it into a closed space, where we observed the reaction to sunlight coming from a window. It has been established that the effect is noticeable, but only when the sunlight is angled directly at the wallpaper.
