L’Oro di Cornia is a book about a particular habitat, the “masiera” of Vedana (in the province of Belluno, north-east Italy), which is the result of a thousand-year old avalanche, and how the local population has related to it through the centuries. The volume deals with various topics: geology, flora, history and legends, literature and culture. It was conceived and developed by Pro Loco Monti del Sole, a local association that promotes tourism and culture.

The challenge was to put together miscellaneous contents: the key is a simple yet versatile page layout that allows texts, captions, photographs, maps and diagrams to flow together consistently.

Typography details. The chapters, written by different authors, were carefully standardised to the same writing style.

Attached to the book is an A2 double sided foldable map that illustrates and describes ten paths of particular naturalistic, cultural and artistic interest regarding the Masiere area and history. One side of the map presents the itineraries, drawn in different colours on a pre-existing map, the map key and brief explanations of four paths. The other side presents a more detailed description of the other six paths, providing directions and highlighting notable features.
