The Scale of Nostalgia

The Scale of Nostalgia is a continuation of my previous project, Cropped

Cropped explores how we are able to recognise object through details and their visual cues or elements. Despite familiarity towards an object, everyone has certain criteria to whether or not it is nostalgic. For instance, when 2D games turned into 3D. The game remains similar, however, it does not feel same again.

Through commercial motivations, nostalgia is used as resurgence. Ephemeras are introduced to merchandise, often found printed on tote bags or created into an everyday objects. This nostalgia-based marketing brings me to question what else can be explored apart from using the object on its own.
Can we still recognise these objects through certain visual cues?
The Scale of Nostalgia explores design elements of objects that may bring about nostalgic memories. Aims to challenge the overly used nostalgic elements currently in trend and look into ways to capture the essence of these objects. Are we too comfortable with just looking at nostalgic objects as it is or is it time for them to be re-imagined?
