Squid
4 Symbol and Logotype Solutions
The first solution is a descriptive representation of the squid with texture and detail. Next, an abstracted squid where I used an ink spill to create the squid's shape.
The third solution is a typographic logotype where the clean serif typeface is offset by splatters of ink splat.
The final solution utilize both type and symbol in a combination mark, and the abstract squid takes the place of the 'i' in 'squid.' By adding color and gradient, the sense of ink and water spilling onto the image is emphasized.
I remove the gradient in the final variation to work better in printed materials.
