This is a commission I got from O.L.D. shop (Venice), I was given three vintage clothes that I had to customize through painting inspired by the byzantine decorations of D&G’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The first gown is painted with the reproduction of John II Komnenos, Emperor of the Byzantine Empire. The second one recalls the Christian Lacroix sweatshirt on the cover of American Vogue in November 1988. The last piece is a green top, it has been decorated with an islamic geometry instead of a proper byzantine
decoration, I mainted the colour gold to make it more similar to the other two clothes. All the decorations are hand-painted in acrylic colours

I realized these dresses for the XVIII th edition of Moda Movie Contest held in Cosenza (Italy). The theme given was the concept of “classic”. Since our idea of classic hails from the greco-roman art the frst dress is decorated with a reproduction of different roman pavement mosaics. Byzantine art kept the mosaic tradition alive, one of the best examples are the mosaics that can be found in Ravenna, from which is taken the decoration of the second dress. All the decorations are handpainted in acrylic colours. Both dresses are white and present a 60s shape, that also gives the idea of something “classic”
