Project Summary

Inspired from Samsung's successful debut of wireless earbuds the Gear Icon X, I started a project based on Samsung's original Level U series. This project is a proposal concept of the next generation of Samsung's new audio brand the 'Gear Icon series' as a bluetooth neckband headphone.

"C" is a implicated symbol that originates from the project keywords Career, Custom, Collar, etc. And of course the band itself is in a C

shaped form so I decide to name the next icon "C"

01. Career Stylist

This project targets young office workers who want to express their unique styles on business occasions. The core value of design is to melt the product into the daily outfit of each office workers.

Bluetooth neckband headphones became a new product style over the past years and it sure takes its part as a product genre of head

phones. Analyzing the users of these bluetooth headphones, I could see that its actually very fit for career purposes. Users use them as

a career supporter while moving in cars or on their business trips. But, many companies focus on designing the neckband for outdoor physical activities. So I decided to design a bluetooth neckband that serves the styles and needs of a young office workers.

02. Inspirations from Collar pin

Rather than the product itself standing out on its own, I wanted to design a product that serves as a point accessory for the daily outfit. The collar accessory act as a point detail for business casuals of office workers. I took inspiration from the collar pin and melted them into the final design.

The product can be pinned on to the collar when not in use for a accessory. This way the earbuds do not hang in midair and also you can keep the cords of the headphone in a neat way.

03. Customize _ Chic, Classy or Casual

Designing the product, I tried to get as much inspirations as possible from fashion design. The goal of this project was to provide an accessory that fit the user's daily outfit. The earbud units are switchable to fit the user's needs for a series of occasions. Selecting the material I chose leather and fabric for warm and casual looks and metal for cold and chic styles.

04. Charge Easily

Finding a way to charge the product I found Samsung's wireless charging technology very interesting. The design of the charging cradle is designed in the most minimal manners so that the bluetooth headphone's design stand out. The user can intuitively know the process of

charging through the LED indicator in the middle of the pole. After charge, simply grab and take the Gear Icon C to your work.
