Volvo FleXC

FLEXC
is a backpack that adapts to the users needs. It is made of neoprene, a flexible and durable material used in wetsuits, and polycarbonate, an impact resistant and light material found in car bumpers and suitcases. It has a light aluminium frame and a thin strong rope connecting the hardshells much like a shoelace to control the expansion. It also contains removable net which serves as an extension for more bulky, wet or smelly items. This concept was created as part of the Volvo Design Challenge and exhibited at the Dutch Design Week, where it recieved the Public Favourite Award.

Thanks to Volvo’s support we were able to take the concept to the next level. We took the 2D visuals and turned them into 3D models, which we could then use to make the final prototype.

The back pack was showcased at the dutch design week and awareded the Public favourite award.
