What will the intelligent companion of the future look like? Which requirements will it have to meet? And basically – what will the future be like at all?
These questions guided the development of LLUM, the pedagogical agent of the future. We mainly focused on re-thinking artificial intelligence.
To us the AI of the future will be decentralised, communicating via light and voice, not matching the continued and hardened picture of an anthropomorphic robot. Anyway design and concept was not limited to LLUM itself but necessarily had to be extended to the world LLUM will be surrounded by and that most certainly will look very different to the one we know right now. That also constituted the starting point of our communication strategy. Based on the lastest results from futurology we painted a picture of the consumers of tomorrow and simulated how they will have to be addressed in terms of communication.

LLUM is an empathetic artificial intelligence that creates user profiles based on the semantic and emotional content of verbal and paraverbal utterances. Therefore it is able to interact differentially with every user according to his/her respective needs.
