A, Bo, C - Letter D

Letter D
Wall iron decoration
The letter D takes inspiration from the geometric motif of a metal frame decoration hanging under one of the many porticos of the city.

A, Bo, C’ is a two days workshop held by No-Rocket that took place in Italy on the 26th - 27th of September
in the city of Bologna in the park of Giardini Margherita, close to the very center of the city.
The workshop has been the first appointment of a series of workshops and activities sponsored by Fruit Festival, focused on typography, illustration and creativity.

The focus of the workshop has been alphabet with its letters, the very basic elements on which our communication is based on.
Letters with their endless combination and possibilities, create different meanings and convey different flavours according to their shape, the way they are arranged together,
the context they live in.

Thirteen participants explored the thousand faces a letter can have, not just merely as graphical symbols but also as a medium for expression. A tool for storytelling, to communicate values and content.
Getting inspired by the city and its his history, its past and its present, we tried together to represent a bit of Bologna through each letter of the alphabet. Using different media, drawing, painting and doing paper cutouts.

From food to architecture, from culture to anecdotes, from graffiti to calligraphy, past and present of Bologna overlaps, giving shape to a new alphabet. A constellation of thirteen different points of view (graphic designers, calligraphers, amateurs, beginners) highlighting interests and potential of each one.
