A cidade em suspensão - sobre ficar de altos

O espaço público brasileiro foi se tornando residual a partir do momento em que a arquitetura das cidades passou a ser regida pelos princípios do Urbanismo Moderno; sua principal característica de lugar de encontros e trocas foi se apagando, dando lugar a uma cidade cada vez mais automotiva, categorizada, e menos propícia às interações entre as pessoas nas ruas.
Entretanto, o país vive um momento em que a população está buscando retomar e reformular os ambientes coletivos, resgatando seu caráter pessoal e relacional. Buscando deixar a cidade em suspensão, proponho uma intervenção nesse contexto de maneira a continuar resgatando tal caráter, estimulando o contato entre as pessoas por meio do inesperado, do movimento e da ludicidade.

|ABOUT

The Brazilian public space was becoming residual from the moment the architecture of the cities came to be governed by the principles of Modern Urban Planning; its main characteristic of place of meetings and exchanges was fading, giving way to a city increasingly automotive, categorized, and less conducive to interactions between people on the streets.However, the country is experiencing a time when the population is seeking resume and reform collective environments, restoring their personal and relational character. Seeking leave the city in suspension, I propose an intervention in this context in order to continue rescuing such character, stimulating the contact between people by the unexpected, the movement and the playfulness.

|CONCEITO

Como nas brincadeiras infantis, “ficar de altos” acontece quando a criança está cansada da brincadeira que está participando e quer parar um pouco para respirar ou beber água, por exemplo. Com essa analogia reforço a ideia de projetar um dispositivo que sirva para uma pausa durante o dia, mas com uma temática lúdica e que remete à infância, trazendo consigo uma valorização do brincar na idade adulta. As pessoas podem “ficar de altos” da rotina, da correria, do estresse e dos problemas, podendo recarregar as energias e depois retornar às suas atividades.

|CONCEPT

As in children's play, "ficar de altos" is when the child is tired of playing and wants to take a moment to breathe or drink water, for example. With this analogy, the idea of designing a device that serves for a break during the day is reinforced, but with a playful theme and a reference to childhood, bringing with it an appreciation of the play in adulthood. People can "ficar de altos" of the routine, the rush, the stress and the problems, recharging their energy and then returning to their activities.

|TRAMA

A escolha da trama para a parte do assento do dispositivo tem origem na alusão aos fios que percorrem todo o bairro de Botafogo, no Rio de Janeiro. Para fazer o papel dos fios no modelo, optei por utilizar fio de PVC flexível, mais conhecido como fio espaguete, comumente
utilizado na fabricação de cadeiras para áreas externas, como varandas e calçadas, onde era de costume aqui no Brasil, principalmente no Nordeste, ficar por horas conversando sentado do lado de fora de casa.

The choice of the web for the seat of the device comes from the allusion to the wires that run throughout the Botafogo neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. To the role of wires in the model, I chose to use flexible PVC wire, known as wire spaghetti, commonlyused in the manufacture of chairs for outdoor areas like porches and sidewalks, which was usual in Brazil, mainly in the Northeast, staying for hours talking sitting outside home.
