A Speculative Housing Masterplan for East Glasgow
Bridgeton Cross, Glasgow, is the site for the Urban Housing project of studio group B. Located east of Glasgow Green and marking the intersection of major road juntions, Bridgeton Cross is a local centre currently under the scope of an urban regeneration scheme.
The project began with group investigations into the history, demographics and amenities of the area, as well as research into housing precedents and typologies to increase the density of the area once again.
Concept masterplan drawn to illustrate the variety of housing typologies, green spaces and potential for expansion eastward.
Our site lies to the east of the cross and defines a new work/residential neighbourhood with “work” edges to Orr St, London Rd, Broad St and Fielden St. and a protected “residential” spine, terminated by green spaces at the east and west.
The design of a new peaceful green enclave behind the Cross, contrasts with vitality of the Cross itself.
