This series of illustration focuses on representing identity of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology. It addresses the issues of combining text and illustration in order to create images that are appealing, coherent and well contextualized. It communicates not only the Society’s identity, but also the identity of its various members. These illustrations are strong and flexible enough to be used as posters as well other sorts of merchandise. They are strong in style so that it can be identifiable in different versions, applications and themes.

Concept and Inspiration
95% of the animals on earth are Invertebrate Pathology animals. They are the foundation of the earth ecosystem. This fact inspired me to go back to the fundamental shapes in graphic design, namely Circle, Square and Triangle to represent the 3 types of environments, namely water, land and sky.

CIRCLEWATER
Water and circle both are soft, smooth and flowing. Jellyfish has the perfect round shape, which is an impeccable responds to the circle.

SQUARELAND
In the ancient time, before Columbus discovered the new land, our ancestors considered the land as square. Mosaic style beetles respond to the square shape.

TRIANGLESKY
Triangle matches the shape of a butterfly, which also illustrate the mosaic style in consistency
