The Moment of Battle is an immersive VR experience created together with Tim Schuster. It is planned as an installation for the new visitor center in Lützen, Germany. Based on the historic Battle in 1632, the user finds himself in the middle of a gigantic battle scene and next to the dying swedish king Gustaf Adolf II. who was shot from behind.

Apart from the Pikeman all models and textures created by myself using Marvelous Designer, ZBrush, 3ds Max, xNormal, Substance Painter and Quixel Suite.

For bringing it to life we just borrowed a HTC Vive from friends and I tried the Unreal Engine 4 as well as Unity 5. Besides my affinity to Unreal Engine (better graphics) I ended up using Unity because I struggled a lot with previewing the result in UE4 (sometimes it worked sometimes not) and in Unity 5 it wasn't a big deal at all.
