For the project were selected 3 natural objects: blooming branch, birch bark and pine cone.
The garment was inspired by birch bark. After checking the bark under the microscope, I observed a linear pattern, consisting of uniform lines, which became the main inspiration of the design concept.
Additionally, since the wood bark has imperfect and incomplete edges I decided to play with the concept of wabi sabi. I left the garment edges raw as it is, with its imperfections and incompleteness as wabi sabi dictates.

With the calico fabric and sewing mashing help I made many separate uniform lines which a little bit reminds musical instrument accordion.
I started to make many experiments by playing with sewn pieces.
To make the piece even more complete I decided to add the neck decoration.
As the bark has many functionalities, e.g. protecting the tree and changing the shape according to its growth, I wanted my garment to be multi functional as well, adapting to the body and the needs of the person who wears it.

Multi functionality is achieved by using a rope, which is used to adjust back and front parts of the garment, creating different styles and looks.
I would like to use Abaca fibre to produce the final project.
