Timescape
"Timescape" means "the landscape of time".
在自然景觀下，擷取三種水的運作型態來隱喻時間。一系列作品擷取竹筧、山霧、冰錐的映象呈現秒、分、時，水滴落入竹筧每分發出敲響為「秒」；霧氣每十分裊裊攻上山頭為「分」；冰霜緩慢向下形成冰錐為「時」。
水の三態を使って秒、分、時を隠喩する。雫が竹筧の中に垂らし込むのは「秒」、霧が山を徐々に覆うのは「分」、霜がだんだん厚くなってつららになるのは「時」である。この作品で、時間を詩的に感じし方をあげたい。
We used different states of water as the metaphor of different time units. Water drops dripping into a bamboo kakei represent "second", mountains gradually filled with vapor represent "minutes" and the frost that slowly forms icicle represents "hours". Through dynamic states of water, we present you a poetic way to experience the flow of time."
「秒」不斷往前走動，如流水一般；秒針一格一格的走，也像水滴一滴一滴一樣。以溪流、石頭堆疊風景，庭園造景中的竹筧作為載體，透過水珠來詮釋秒的運行，竹筧接取每秒鐘滴落的一滴水珠。當道達一分鐘時，竹筧會將乘載代表一分鐘的水量倒掉，回來輕輕敲一下，宣告一分鐘的過去。
流水のように、「秒」は前方へ不断に流れている。秒針もこつこつと動いて、滴水のようだ。川の中で積み重ねている石と庭園様式の竹筧を使って造形を決定し、流れている水は秒を象徴する。毎秒は水滴が一つ下の竹筧の中に垂らし込む。一分が経った時、竹筧が倒れ、一分を象徴する水量をあける。そして、戻ってきてそっと叩き、一分が経ったのを宣告する。
We gave the seconds' motion a metaphor of water drops dripping and built a structure resembling a water garden. Within the view there are piling stones and a highlight of a bamboo kakei. One water drop dripping into the kaikei symbolizes one second passing by. Sixty seconds later, the kakei will pour out the water it has collected and bounce back with a crystal-clear sound, announcing a minute has passed.
「分」移動的感覺就像霧一般，不易察覺的，緩慢的飄動著，但過了一段時間後，將會有明顯的變化，我們以山跟霧來詮釋分的運行，每座山分別代表一小時裡的一個十分鐘，最矮的是第一個十分鐘，最高的是最後一個十分鐘，在一小時內，霧氣將隨著時間，由矮至高慢慢瀰漫全部的山，如同山裡的霧氣越來越濃。當抵達一小時時，霧氣將會停止，往下沉，恢復原本清澈透明的樣子，如同山裡的霧氣退去一樣。
霧は気づくにくく緩やかに動いている。「分」も霧のように緩く移動している・気づくにくいけれども、すこしの時間が経つと、著しい変化が見える。山を使って造形をデザインし、霧の移動は「分」の運行を隠喩する。一つ一つの山は十分を代表し、六つがあるため、総合は一時間だ。最も低い山は一つ目の十分で、最も高い山は最後の十分である。一時間の中で、水気は時間に経つと共に、低い山から高い山まで全部を満たす。一時間が経った次第、水気は山の中の霧が散らすように、吹き出すのが停止し、グラス山も元の透明に戻ってくる。
We interpreted the minutes' motion into a relationship of mountains and mist. Each mountain represents ten minutes. From the shortest to the tallest there is a sequential order within these mountains. The shortest peak will be filled with mist in the first ten minutes and the tallest will be the last. Within an hour, all mountains will be filled, referring to a natural scene of mist growing thicker and thicker. It will gradually stop filling up and the mist will start fading away, clearing the air in reference to a natural mountain scene.
「時」移動極為緩慢趨近於靜止，如同冰錐漫長形成的意象，緩慢地往下結冰或往左右增厚，我們以冰錐當做造型重點，十二小時一循環就像時鐘一樣，從中午十二點開始，冰霜將從黃銅錐的根部慢慢開始向下覆蓋不斷增厚形成冰，而過了12小時到午夜12點時，將會停止結冰，開始融化 ，也是象徵今天結束、舊的事物融化掉，新的一天重新開始 ，再一次結冰。
氷柱が形成する過程は非常に緩慢で、下へ氷結し左右に厚くなるということである。「時」の動きはこれを似て、静止のように遅く前進する。氷柱を造形の重点にし、運転は時計のように十二時間で循環している。午後零時から見れば、霜は真鍮氷柱の根の部分からゆっくり下へ覆い、厚くなって氷になる。十二時間が経つ、午後十二時の時、氷結が停止し融け始まる。これも今日の終わりを象徴する。去ったことは融け、新な一日が再びに始まり、もう一度凍り始まる。
We chose icicle as our main focus and set it up for a twelve hour motion. Starting at 12 p.m. the frost gradually begins to cover the brass icicle's root and continues to thicken into ice. Twelve hours later, at 12 a.m., it stops freezing and starts to melt, hinting at an end of the day. The water then turns into frost all over again and a new day shall begin.
