La noche triste
As a Mexican, our story is something I am proud of. To celebrate the independence day of 2016, I made an abstract scene of the clash of civilizations that gave origin to the country that today is known as Mexico.

Aztec culture and Spanish culture were mixed to result in the same mestizo culture.

The models were sculpted in Zbrush, textured and rendered in Cinema 4D and finally, retouched in Adobe Lightroom.
To represent the Mexican culture he modeled an Aztec warrior, in his typical clothing: his naked torso, loincloth, feathered plume with eagle head, traditional Aztec sword and shield with the marks of battle.

To represent the Spanish culture, model a Spanish warrior of the conquest with his typical clothing: full body iron armor. For this character, I decided to model a horse, to offer more drama and contrast between the clash of both cultures.
For the illumination, create a light with golden tones, to generate more drama and to enhance these iconic figures that represent the mother cultures of Mexico. The golden tone represents the gold, which, in turn, represents the importance that this object had in the general purpose of the Spanish conquest.
